26 weeks, week 10 {laughter}

There is a little girl named Alix that comes to visit her grandmother frequently. Her grandmother’s back yard backs up to our yard. Fern heard children one day and climbed the fence to see. Now her and Alix share secrets and stories and treats at the top of the fence. It is crazy how excited Fern gets when she hears Alix. {I want to remember this about her.} When Alix visits her grandmother, she calls Fern’s name and Fern runs outside to meet her. Here they are sharing bubbles at the top of the fence, laughing.

Afterwards, head on over to Linsey Stuckey’s blog here, and see what she chose for laughter!

Sara Kelly - May 17, 2013 - 7:35 am

What a lovely story and what a lovely memory for Fern! I love that first one, the full-bellied laughter even as they are precariously perched!

Linda - May 17, 2013 - 9:23 am

I love every thing about these images. We learn so much from children don’t we? They are so uninhibited and can laugh with anyone. Thank you for sharing these:)

pamela joye - May 18, 2013 - 9:28 pm

oh my; this is the best story ever. you told it visually in ways i cannot articulate. i love every single one of them. they are filled with laughter!

penny - May 19, 2013 - 12:40 am

beautiful Ginger!

26 weeks, week 9 {series of a scene unfolding}

I took these back in January when I was taking a picture for the {out of focus} theme. I wanted to recapture something similar for this theme outside with pretty light, but spring has refused to come here in Casper so they remain the same.  Fern dresses up all the time, and she often likes to don the halloween costume I made her…the rainbow butterfly. {I want to remember this about her.} Here she was emerging from a chrysallis as a new  butterfly and trying out her wings for the first time.

Now head on over to the talented Sara Kelly, of Swarthmore, PA here.

Sara Kelly - May 3, 2013 - 7:53 am

Very nice, Ginger. I like the metaphor.

pamela joye - May 3, 2013 - 8:02 am

oh my goodness…i love this in every way possible. the motion, the dreaminess, the soft silliness. it feels very much like a childhood memory that your daughter will adore when she’s grown.

Alison - May 3, 2013 - 11:20 am

Your own little version of spring indoors :)

Linda - May 6, 2013 - 5:43 pm

Ginger–these images are so precious. I love the moments that you captured. Beautiful!

Carrie - May 7, 2013 - 8:44 am

Love this series of images! These tell such a precious story!

26 weeks, week 8 {silhouette}

There’s nothing much to say here. This is our cat Horace, who was rescued in Guam traffic when he was a mere 4 week old kitten. He has gone from tropical kitty to snowcat.  And he is a tad bit fiesty. But we love him nonetheless. He is part of our family.  Once you are done here, head over to Lili’s blog here, and see her beautiful silhouettes.

Sara Kelly - April 19, 2013 - 7:41 am

Love this Ginger. Love the rim light on the chair and desk, love the peaceful feeling of a cat doing cat things. Very beautiful.

Linda - April 19, 2013 - 9:40 am

Ginger, I love this! Cats and windows just go together. I was hoping someone would do a silhouette of a cat!

Carrie - April 19, 2013 - 2:46 pm

Such a fabulous silhouette Ginger! I love that you can see his kitty tongue drinking from the bowl:)

Alison - April 23, 2013 - 12:51 pm

I like that you can still see the details of his mouth and nose, not hidden in the bowl. Well done!

pamela joye - April 23, 2013 - 12:59 pm

a study of such subtlety befitting a cat…i like the vibe here and can relate to catching a stolen moment. they don’t give them up all that often and i respect what you’ve expressed here.

Lili Love - April 23, 2013 - 5:05 pm

ginger i love the quiet comfort of this image, you have really captured a feeling of home-ness :)

26 weeks, week 7 {through a window}

Spring is here. I love being able to watch her play in the backyard through the window. She is having a teepee picnic with Oka and Sam wants to join. I think she has pumpkin seeds in there. :) She loves her dog but also enjoys teasing him with food, poor guy. {I want to remember this about her.}

(She was also feeding mama squirrel almonds by placing them in the bird bath. You can see her under the bird feeder on the aspen tree in the foreground.)

Now, please head on over to Linsey’s site and see her wonderful images here!

pamela joye - April 5, 2013 - 8:29 am

Such a sweet little moment that is filled with sentiment and rememberence. I love that the shape of the bush follows the lines of the teepee. All the angles work so well here and I love that you caught the expression. It feels like a sweet little giggle.

Linda - April 5, 2013 - 11:57 am

What a wonderful sweet image. There is something so wonderful about watching a child play in their own backyard. It’s like they are practicing for real life, only where it is safe. I love that the dog wants in on the fun! Such a happy memory this will be for you and her.

Sara Kelly - April 5, 2013 - 7:30 pm

My favorite thing about Spring is playing in our backyard. I love the story here and the fact that even the squirrel showed up for the shot!

Carrie - April 6, 2013 - 9:27 am

What a beautiful memory you have captured through your window. You daughter’s laughter and relationship with your dog, the backyard setting-an image to treasure!

myra buby - April 8, 2013 - 10:27 pm

So sweet. Love how you captured an innocent play time so well. So discreetly.

Breanna - April 9, 2013 - 10:53 am

this is such a sweet image, so glad you’ll have it, as she grows up <3

26 weeks, week 6 {white}

Our little Fern learned to ski this year. She has spent every Saturday since Christmas on the mountain, perfecting her skills.  She loves to go through the trees and over the woopty-doos. She has been termed “hot dog” and “fearless.” These were taken on our way up the mountain, and back down, on one of those Saturdays.

As we pull into the Hogadon parking lot:

Now head on over to the talented Linsey Stuckey  of Houston, TX, and see her interpretation of ‘white.’

Sara Kelly - March 22, 2013 - 6:36 am

Oh, that first image. So lonely, so desolate, so white. Lovely job.

Alison - March 22, 2013 - 1:55 pm

What a different scene from our outdoor shots! Its like we’re in different seasons completely. Well done.

pamela joye - March 23, 2013 - 2:33 pm

i love your description tho i almost sense a sadness in these – like while you’re happy with her “woopty do’s & hot dogs” there’s an equal ache that time is moving forward; that this season is nearly over and will be different next year. it’s an understanding that life moves forward yet a feeling of wanting to freeze it. hopefully that makes sense. and while that first image was hard to move away from, they’re all so studied and unique and interesting. i actually keep going back to the one with the truck in it. i like how you don’t see it at a glance. beautiful collection here.

Linda - March 23, 2013 - 2:42 pm

I can SO relate to your post this week. Our family is a big ski family, we taught our kids at a very young age to ski. We take a ski trip together every year and have built so many memories. I just got back from a ski trip with my 20 year old…needless to say I could barely walk after four days!! Beautiful images!

Carrie - March 24, 2013 - 8:52 am

Ginger, the snow is beautiful! My husband and I used to live in Casper and it brings back happy memories of cross country skiing on the mountain at night.

Marsette - March 25, 2013 - 9:39 am

These are so pretty! That last one is my favorite! It’s magical!

Linsey Stuckey - March 26, 2013 - 10:26 am

Oh, I miss skiing. I can truly feel the coldness in these images. I love the feeling of solitude and renewal.

Mallory - April 2, 2013 - 11:04 am

I feel cold looking at these images! great job!

myra buby - April 8, 2013 - 10:11 pm

WOW!!! What a blizzard! I love how the white engulfs an image yet somehow you make the shadows stand out.
